What changed
BOBCARD's cardholder notice revises charges and benefits with effect from 15 July 2026. Every change below carries that same date.
| Item | Till 14 July 2026 | From 15 July 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Finance charges — Eterna, Eterna (FD), Tiara | 3.25% per month (39% p.a.) | 3.75% per month (45% p.a.) |
| Unlimited domestic lounge — spend in preceding calendar quarter | ₹40,000 | ₹75,000 |
The lounge bar covers Eterna, Eterna (FD), Tiara and Varunah Premium, judged on the previous quarter. The notice's illustration is blunt: ₹40,000–₹74,999 of Q2 2026 spend meant eligible until 15 July, not eligible from 15 July to 30 September.
Air and non-air accidental death cover no longer applies to cards issued after 15 July 2026 across the 20 product variants the notice lists, and is discontinued for existing cardholders from 25 August 2026.
For HPCL cards, accelerated reward points and the fuel surcharge waiver now apply only at outlets on the eligible merchant list HPCL shares with BOBCARD — other HPCL pumps earn neither.
Who is affected
Eterna, Eterna (FD), Tiara and Varunah Premium holders, plus BOBCARD HPCL holders. We list no BOBCARD product, so no card in our catalogue changes.
What this costs you
Unlimited lounge access now needs ₹35,000 more spend a quarter — ₹1,40,000 more a year routed onto the card to hold a benefit that previously cost ₹1,60,000 of annual spend.
On interest: 6 percentage points on a ₹1,00,000 balance carried a year is about ₹6,000 as simple interest on the headline rates. BOBCARD charges on the daily outstanding, so 3.25% a month compounds to roughly 46.8% and 3.75% to roughly 55.4% — a real gap nearer ₹8,600. Cash withdrawals accrue finance charges from the transaction date, with no interest-free period.
What to do
Do not revolve. At 45% p.a. no rewards table survives contact with the interest — our guide to the minimum amount due trap shows the arithmetic. The rate is no longer unusual: the SBI Cashback Credit Card sits in the same 3.75% per month band.
If the restricted outlet list makes the BOBCARD HPCL card less useful, the HPCL cards we cover are the ICICI Bank HPCL Super Saver and HPCL Coral. Our fuel surcharge waiver guide explains why that waiver is worth less than it sounds.
