From 10 November 2026, ICICI Bank changes three things on the MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Credit Card. The 0.99% forex markup goes to zero. Spends abroad outside MakeMyTrip stop earning myCash. myCash earned from that date is valid for 24 months. The changes are in ICICI's own MITC and the card's terms and conditions. The product page still showed the old terms when we read it on 28 October.
What changed
| Until 9 November 2026 | From 10 November 2026 | |
|---|---|---|
| Forex markup | 0.99% + GST | None |
| Dynamic currency conversion fee | Charged | None |
| myCash on international spends outside MakeMyTrip | Earned at the ordinary rate | None |
| Validity of newly earned myCash | Does not expire | 24 months |
ICICI's terms say myCash earned before 10 November 2026 "will never expire". The 6% on MakeMyTrip hotels and 3% on flights, cabs and buses are unchanged.
Who is affected
Holders of the current MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Credit Card. ICICI's MITC says the forex and DCC changes do not apply to the older MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Signature and Platinum cards. Those programmes already let myCash expire within 12 months.
What to do
On card spend abroad, the two changes roughly cancel out. Take ₹1,00,000 of foreign spend outside MakeMyTrip, assuming it earns the card's 1 myCash per ₹100 ordinary rate until 9 November (1 myCash = ₹1):
| ₹1,00,000 spent abroad | Until 9 Nov | From 10 Nov |
|---|---|---|
| myCash earned | +₹1,000 | ₹0 |
| Markup (0.99%) | −₹990 | ₹0 |
| GST on the markup (18%) | −₹178.20 | ₹0 |
| Net | −₹168.20 | ₹0 |
So for spend abroad the card gets slightly cheaper, by about ₹168 per ₹1 lakh. It now neither costs nor earns anything, and it is no longer a reason to carry this card on a trip.
The real cost is the expiry. From 10 November, myCash has to be spent on a MakeMyTrip booking within two years. If you collect it slowly from 1% everyday spend and redeem rarely, plan a booking before the balance lapses.
If you want card spend abroad to earn something, the lifetime-free IDFC FIRST Classic also charges no markup and earns 10X reward points on international spends. At ₹0.25 a point that is about 1.25%, or ₹1,250 on the same ₹1,00,000, less ₹99 + GST for each redemption. Our forex markup guide compares every card we hold, and our methodology explains how we value points.
